Nippon TV Features ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-IAS at Yokohama Biodiversity Festival?

A Japanese TV programme showcased ecosystem restoration efforts by the International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative.

On 29 September 2024, the Nippon TV programme "Nittere Update!" featured a ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-IAS event at the Yokohama Biodiversity Festival, which was held as part of the (IYCB). The event showcased Kagaku no Sato, a project led by the science education show "Tokoro-san no Megaten!" and the (IPSI), for which ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-IAS serves as the secretariat. The collaborative project aims to restore degraded land into vibrant satoyama (Japanese woodland villages). The TV programme also featured a live insect exhibit that was set up to illustrate their importance for ecosystems. 

Commenting on the high turnout, Rina Miyake (Programme Coordinator, ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-IAS) emphasized that such collaborative events provide valuable opportunities to raise awareness of biodiversity issues.

In addition, on 19 October Nippon TV released an episode of "Tokoro-san no Megaten!" that also featured the ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-IAS event and booth at the Yokohama Biodiversity Festival.
