38th ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ Global Seminar Discusses Transformative Actions for Carbon Neutrality

Global Seminar engages students, young professionals, scholars, and practitioners to enhance awareness of global environmental challenges.

On 3, 4, and 10 December 2022 ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ-IAS organised the 38th ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ Global Seminar, which engaged students, young professionals, scholars, and practitioners to enhance awareness of global environmental challenges. Focusing on the theme Energy Sustainability in the Anthropocene: Transforming Lifestyles for Carbon Neutrality, 30 participants from 13 universities and other educational institutions across Japan explored issues such as biodiversity, water, and education to learn more about actions needed to accelerate decarbonisation. On the final day, participants delivered group presentations and received completion certificates.

The seminar was held online with the support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Technology of Japan; and the Japan Foundation for the ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ.

History of the ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ Global Seminars

The ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ Global Seminars began in Japan in the Kanto area in 1985 with the first Shonan Session, and in the Kansai area in 1995 with the Kobe Session. In Japan, additional ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ Global Seminars have been held in Tohoku, Shimane-Yamaguchi, Hokkaido, Kobe-Awaji, Kanazawa, and Okinawa. Sessions have also been held abroad, including the Seoul (South Korea) Session in 2003. Individuals from all over Japan are invited to participate in the ²ÝÁñÊÓƵ Global Seminars to be held in Japan.
